What a Brand Shoot Day Actually Looks Like at CAM Studios

Here’s what actually happens on shoot day.

Not the curated version. The real version, from the moment you pull into the parking lot to the moment you drive away with your hair still done and your face still warm from two hours of being genuinely seen.

Before you arrive:

You’ve already received your session guide. You’ve thought about your outfits, laid them out the night before, steamed the ones that needed it. You know what to expect because I’ve told you. There’s no mystery, no anxiety about what’s going to happen, just anticipation.

You’ve probably thought about your brand more intentionally in the past week than you have in months. That’s not a side effect. That’s part of the process.

When you arrive:

CAM Studios is in Laguna Niguel. It’s easy to find, easy to park. When you walk in, the studio is already set, lighting dialed, sets styled, everything ready for you.

I’m there before you. Always.

The first thing we do is not shoot. The first thing we do is talk. I show you the space, walk you through the sets we’ll use, ask about your business, what you’re launching, what you need these images to do, what you want to feel in your gallery.

This part takes fifteen to twenty minutes. It is the most important part of the session.

By the time I pick up the camera, you’ve been in the room long enough to exhale. You know the space. You trust the direction. You’re ready.

During the session:

I direct everything. Where to stand, how to hold your body, where to look, when to breathe out. You will never wonder what to do with your hands.

We’ll move through three to four looks depending on your session. Each transition is fast — a few minutes to change, a quick check in the full-length mirror in the private changing area, and then back into the studio for the next setup.

Between every new setup, I’ll turn the camera around so you can see what we’re capturing. This is not optional. Most women need to see that the image in their head and the image on the screen are two completely different things.

The first time I do this, most women say some version of: “Wait. Is that really what I look like?”

Yes. It is. That’s the whole point.

The session has a natural arc. The first twenty minutes are the warmup, we’re finding your rhythm, you’re getting comfortable with direction, the room is doing its job. The middle is where things open up. The end is usually the best — by then you’ve stopped managing and started inhabiting, and every frame is the one we came here for.

After the last shot:

You change back into your arrival outfit. We look at a few frames together on the back of the camera, just enough to leave you excited, not enough to spoil the reveal.

Then you drive away. Hair still done. Face still warm. Already thinking about where you’re going to use these.

The gallery:

Your images are delivered within two to three weeks. Not dropped in a zip file via email. Delivered with intention, a gallery reveal where you see the full collection for the first time.

That reveal is a moment. Plan to be somewhere you can receive it without rushing. Some women open it alone with a glass of wine. Some open it with a best friend. Some call me immediately after.

All of them cry a little. In the best way.

What comes after:

Your website gets updated. Your Instagram finally has a cohesive grid. Your email signature has a photo that actually looks like you. The speaking pitch gets submitted with an image that matches the woman writing it.

And something quieter happens too. The way you talk about your business changes. The way you show up in rooms changes. The gap between who you know yourself to be and who the world sees closes, maybe for the first time.

That’s what a brand shoot day at CAM Studios actually looks like.

Not just a photoshoot. A threshold.

Ready to step through it? Your session is waiting.
